There's binky trouble on the Ballard front. Lately Lily has been waking up repeatedly throughout the night because her binky falls out, and she can't get to sleep without it. It is very frustrating. This has begun a binky battle that is yet to be decided.
So today, I laid Lily down for her nap with a binky. It fell out, and so I let her cry. After about 10 minutes, the crying suddenly stopped. I went upstairs to check on her and this is what I found:
In all of her rolling around she somehow managed to find her binky, get it in her mouth, and fall asleep on her stomach. And the score stands: Lily- 1, Mom- 0.
(No babies were injured in the making of this post)
On Saturday the girls headed up to the San Marcos Outlets for the day, and the menfolk went to the famed Snake Farm.

Afterwards, Cole and I left Lily with a sitter (thanks Anne!) for the first time to go see Harry Potter. It was such a fun date! We felt giddy, young and in love again, and the movie was even better than I thought it would be. I want to go back and watch it again...anyone with me?!
We ended out the week with some great church meetings and yummy cupcakes.
Thank you Michael and Anne for: planning such fun weekend activities, babysitting/baby whispering, and teaching me how to make cupcakes look pretty. We love you guys, and don't know what we're going to do without you!
I'm cheating on Cole. His name is Harry, and it's a love affair that's been going on for quite a while now. In all actuality, I'm probably cheating on Harry with Cole, not the other way around. It all began in 8th grade, and the love runs deep. I mean, we went through puberty together for heaven's sake! I guess you could call us junior high sweethearts. It's all coming to an end tomorrow though. Don't judge me if I weep. There may be serious weeping.
This is me in high school doing a very bad Hermione, and yes I did order that wand special. I think it had phoenix feather in it. Of course.
This is me in college.(P.S. Can you believe that guy on the left went to BYU?)
Cole being all anti-Potter. He has since seen the light.
One of my favorite pictures. Imaginary glasses? Check. Imaginary wand? Double check.
This 4th of July consisted of good food and good friends, which more than made up for the lack of fireworks (San Antonio banned them due to drought). We sampled some fine, grilled meats at Chama Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse with the Johnsons, the Rupps, and the Jubers. After Anne crushed a glass with her bare hands and ruined our fun (just kidding, Anne), we took the party down the road to Orange Leaf, a self-serve froyo place. So good!
Afterwards, Cole and I went to Best Buy and ogled the 3D TVs. We then headed out to The Morgans for some delicious homemade BBQ wings. Thanks Brad + Jessica!
I felt especially grateful this year for our country and particularly the servicemen and women throughout American history who have helped defend, and who have even given their lives for freedom. I feel so proud and grateful to be an American!
Here are some pictures from the weekend:

this picture is so silly, and I love how a froyo is sticking out of Cole's head
I've been surprised by how much I read to Lily. Even though she can't understand the words, I can tell she's engaged by them. I'm super excited because I just signed up for the Children's Book of the Month club (cbomc.com) and I got:
Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed by Mo Willems
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by John Archambault
Oh, the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss
The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Eric Carle
Olivia by Ian Falconer
Skippyjon Jones by Judy Schachner
The Rainbow Fish by by Marcus Pfister
That's 8 books for $20! They don't have every book you could ever want, but they definitely have a lot of good titles. I promise this isn't a paid advertisement. I just can't wait to get these in the mail! Does anyone have any children's book suggestions?
