3 Weeks

Lily is three weeks old today. As of her two week appointment, she weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz. and measured 20.5 inches long, but my tired arms tell me that she's gained a little more since then. I love her little eyelashes, and her little ears, and her rapidly growing cheeks, and her big ol' hands and feet. She makes the girliest noises and manages to blow out almost every diaper I put her in. These last three weeks have been surprising (mainly good surprises). Like how the lost sleep really isn't as bad as expected, and my days go by faster than I thought they would, and a "normal" life of dating my husband is still possible, and how much I love her. Here are some pictures from the past couple weeks:

introducing...

Lily Soh Won Ballard

At 4:22 p.m., after sixteen hours of labor, three hours of pushing, and one emergency C-section, we welcomed the newest Ballard into the family on her due date--March 10, 2011. She weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz. and measured 19 inches long. We are absolutely smitten and taking it all in. There will be many, many more pictures to come!

contractions

Last night at about 2:30 a.m., I finally identified a contraction (not the grammatical variety)! I was beginning to think I really had just swallowed a watermelon for lack of anything exciting going on in my abdominal region. But Hallelujah! Any signs of progress are good signs, even if they keep me up until 4 a.m. I've officially got 6 days until my due date, which is crazy. I still need to:
  • Make little Thank you bags for the nurses
  • Finish Thank you notes
  • Finish packing our hospital bag
  • Clean our stinkin' house
  • Pluck my eyebrows (yes, this IS a priority)
  • Go to the temple
  • Sleep

I must also declare that I have loved being pregnant, and it makes me kind of sad to think it's almost over. I love the people in line at the store or in the elevator who seem genuinely excited for me. I even like the random guy outside of Arby's who excitedly told me I was "gettin' big!" I love feeling the camaraderie with other pregnant ladies. I love how it's brought Cole and I closer. I've just felt incredibly blessed throughout this whole experience. Hopefully next time I post, it'll be with pictures of our little girl! Until then...prayers are welcome!
